On a corner plot held by the family for over five decades, this 5,300 sq. ft. residence houses two branches of an extended family within a single unified volume — distinct dwellings mirrored in plan on the ground floor, diverging above to suit each household's needs.
A central courtyard, crowned by a glazed circular oculus, anchors the design — connecting both homes while choreographing light across the day onto a Frangipani tree planted at its core. Brick and concrete-finished weather shades define the exterior, with long horizontal overhangs tempering the mass into shaded, rhythmic thresholds.
Within, walnut tones, beige walls, and brass inserts replace the brick's warmth with quiet restraint, while red accents thread the two palettes together. A double-height stair volume adds verticality, its deck doubling as usable space for people and objects alike — architecture built not to impress, but to endure across generations.
